Gunfire Erupts at Howe Park Injures 4 Shot in the Arden-Arcade Section of Sacramento County

Law enforcement in Sacramento are Howe Park shooting Sacramento working a gunfire incident that took place on the evening of April 18 at the Howe Community Park area at the time officers were clearing a large unsanctioned party of multiple hundreds of people.

Before the Gunfire

Deputies initially responded to the park on Howe Avenue at approximately 6:30 PM after receiving reports of individuals who may have had concealed firearms. Following that, another report was received regarding an alleged brawl occurring near the park.

Aerial units scanned the area from the air but came back with no confirmation of a fight. Nevertheless, it was evident that an enormous crowd had congregated at Howe Park in an unauthorized manner.

The Moment Gunfire Erupted

Responding units moved to clear the area by encircling the gathering and announcing over their public address systems commanding the assembled crowd to vacate the area. Approximately 15 minutes were allotted for individuals to vacate.

At the height of the dispersal effort that an estimated 20 to 25 shots cut through the air. The shots sent hundreds fleeing. Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies wasted no time in identifying shooting victims.

Four People Shot

In total, four victims were discovered with shooting injuries. The four individuals — consisting of one woman and three men each reported to be in their early to late twenties — were rushed to area medical facilities. Medical teams stated that two had critical injury classifications, one sustained moderate wounds, and one victim's wounds were minor. As of last report, each of the four victims was stable.

Sacramento fire crews provided support and provided medical assistance the four victims before they were taken to the hospital.

What Investigators Found

Most of the gunfire was believed to have taken place along Cottage Way alongside the local Home Depot on the 2200 Howe Avenue block. Law enforcement investigators found additional shell casings scattered along Cottage Way. Round impacts were noted in the wrought iron fence near the nearby Home Depot. These discoveries pointed to that at least one of the shooters had been firing southward from Cottage Way toward the Home Depot building and parking lot. That Home Depot location was secured under a brief lockdown while the scene was active. Crime scene technicians and detectives kept processing evidence for hours.

Suspect Vehicle Located

Details gathered through law enforcement radio communications confirmed that a suspect Kia was intercepted in the Solano County area. Four occupants were held for questioning. Sheriff's units were sent to retrieve the detainees to return them to Sacramento for formal questioning. Video reviewed at the scene established that there were two gunmen.
